Evergreen Social Impact Welcomes Michael Byun as Executive Director

Feb 10, 2026

ESI is pleased and honored to announce the appointment of Michael Byun as our new Executive Director, effective February 9, 2026.

Michael brings 25 years of experience working in and leading nonprofits that serve the BIPOC, immigrant, and marginalized communities. He is passionate about empowering individuals and organizations to realize their mission and core purpose.  Most recently, he served as Executive Director at Asian Counseling and Referral Service.

“We are thrilled that Michael will lead the next phase of ESI. He brings great knowledge and experience in the nonprofit ecosystems of our region. Over his many years of experience, he has built many trusted relationships with BIPOC and other intersectional community leaders that will make him very effective in advancing ESI’s mission to provide support to historically under resourced organizations.”  – Peter Bloch Garcia, ESI Board Chair

In his role as Executive Director, Michael will guide ESI’s efforts to shape the future of social-impact infrastructure in the Pacific Northwest, enabling our mission-driven Sponsored Partners to thrive.

"Each partner meets a critical and important need in our community. They bring their passion and commitment to their work, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to work alongside them in this role.” - Michael Byun, ESI Executive Director

By prioritizing the development of meaningful relationships, Michael helps foster environments where communities can be well, thrive, and achieve their long-term aspirations.

Please join us in welcoming Michael Byun to Evergreen Social Impact. We look forward to the leadership, insight, and passion he will bring to our work and community.
