Through this grant, WUM will launch a new initiative that builds on its successful peer-led model by training and empowering community promotoras, trusted migrant community leaders who serve as bridges between families and local health systems. The initiative will focus on pregnant and postpartum women in Pierce and Thurston County, where many migrant mothers face significant barriers to accessing mental health care and support.
This project will include virtual workshops focused on perinatal mental health, home visits designed to connect families with local resources, and a digital educational campaign to raise awareness and reduce stigma in the Latino community.
Congratulations to Washington United Migrant for receiving the DOH Perinatal Mental Health Access and Capacity Building grant. ESI is honored to provide fiscal sponsorship and organizational support to WUM as they continue to expand their impact and strengthen migrant communities across Washington.
